The Ministry of Education, Government of India conducts a selection test under the name of NATIONAL MEANS CUM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP (NMMS) SCHEME for financially backward (annual household income within Rs. 350,000) gifted students of Class VIII studying in government schools every year. Students who pass this scholarship examination receive a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- (Twelve Thousand) per annum for four years from Class IX to Class XII as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education.

NMMS Assam 2025 – Eligibility Criteria
To apply for NMMS Assam 2025, students must meet the following conditions:
- Must be studying in Class 8 in a government, provincialised, or local body school.
- Minimum 55% marks in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST students).
- Family income should not exceed ₹3.5 lakhs per year.
- Students of private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Sainik Schools are not eligible.

NMMS 2025 Assam – Exam Pattern
The NMMS exam comprises two papers:
1. Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- 90 questions
- Logical reasoning, analogy, series, classification, hidden figures
2. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) shall consist of 90 multiple-choice questions covering subjects namely , science , social studies , and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VI .
