For Kerala, the exam is conducted by Pariksha Bhavan. The NMMS exam consists of two papers:
- MAT (Mental Ability Test): 90 questions on reasoning, patterns, sequences, and problem-solving.
- SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test): 90 questions from Social Science (35), Science (35), and Mathematics (20).
Each paper is of 90 minutes duration. Children with disabilities will be given extra time.
To qualify for the scholarship, candidates must secure at least 40% marks in both MAT & SAT (32% for SC/ST).
NMMS Kerala 2025 Eligibility
- Students must be studying in Class 8 (2025-26) in Govt./Aided schools in Kerala.
- Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Residential Schools, and private recognized schools are not eligible.
- Applicants must have scored at least 55% marks in Class 7 annual exam (2024-25). (50% for SC/ST).
- The annual parental income should not exceed ₹3.5 lakh.
- Students must continue in Govt./Aided schools in higher classes to receive scholarship benefits.
NMMS Kerala 2025 Syllabus
The exam will have two sections:
(A) Mental Ability Test (MAT):
- 90 multiple-choice questions
- Topics: reasoning, similarities, number series, classifications, analogies, hidden figures, and problem-solving patterns
(B) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT):
- 90 multiple-choice questions
- Based on Class 7 & 8 syllabus
- Subjects & Marks Distribution:
- Social Science – 35 marks
- Science – 35 marks
- Mathematics – 20 marks
Each question carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking. Students can choose the exam language from English, Malayalam, Tamil, or Kannada.

- Visit the official website: http://nmmse.kerala.gov.in.
- Click on “New Candidate? Register Now” and complete registration using name, DOB, email, and mobile number.
- Login with the received credentials and set a new password.
- Fill in the application form step by step:
- Basic Details: Gender, Address, Caste, Religion, Disability status.
- Upload Documents: Income certificate, caste/disability certificate (if applicable), and recent passport-size photo (150×200 px, 20–30 KB).
- Family Details: Parent’s name, occupation, and annual income.
- School Details: Class 7 details and current Class 8 school details.
- Question Paper Medium: Choose Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada.
- Preview the application and click Confirm & Submit.
- Take a printout of the application and submit it to the school head with required documents for verification.
